UBQ Materials
UBQ™ is a bio-based thermoplastic that can be made from 100% unsorted household waste, including all organics and unrecyclable materials. UBQ™ can be used in existing manufacturing processes and is already implemented across industries to replace virgin plastic from oil-based resins. By using UBQ™, manufacturers are diverting waste from landfills and incineration, reducing the net carbon footprint of end-products, and supporting a circular economy.

About Us
Where there are people, there is waste. With so many of us, the amount of waste generated has reached 2 billion tons a year and continues to grow at an alarming rate. What if there was a way to put all this waste to good use? This is exactly the question that sparked the foundation of UBQ Materials. We set out on a mission to rethink the very notion of waste and turn it into something good, useful, even celebrated. For thousands of years, consumption was a straight line, and at the end of it was a pile of garbage. With UBQ, waste is not the end, it is only the beginning. The beginning of a new material and the building block of a world without waste.
Relevant Challenges
Waste Management
Effective recycling relies on the precise separation of waste streams, utilizing high energy and added water, as mixing various elements can compromise the process. For instance, in plastic recycling, the presence of organics can contaminate the plastic stream, hindering its reuse. Similarly, when repurposing or recycling organics, even small amounts of non-organic materials like plastics, glass, or metals can undermine the viability of the organic stream for reuse.UBQ technology addresses this challenge by processing challenging-to-recycle streams, without the need for separation. It transforms mixed organic and non-recycled plastic waste into a valuable resource through an energy-efficient conversion process that requires no additional water and emits no emissions. Being highly tolerant of mixed waste, UBQ can be integrated into existing recycling systems and policies to enhance the current recycling infrastructure, by converting its residuals and unrecyclable waste from landfills and incinerations into a valuable plastic alternative raw material.
Biomaterials
UBQ™ presents an excellent alternative to oil-based resins for durable and semi-durable applications across various industries. This entirely waste-made and bio-based thermoplastic material integrates into standard manufacturing processes and technologies, offering a straightforward material substitution. Depending on the specific application, UBQ™ can be utilized independently or blended with conventional polymers in existing formulations to produce the same products with the same functionality, only now, made with residual waste that would otherwise be considered a burden. The company operates two facilities, one in Israel and the other in Europe, from which it produces and distributes its raw materials. These materials are sought after by manufacturers and brands worldwide seeking to diminish their consumption of oil-based plastics and other finite resources, as well as to reduce their product’s and operation greenhouse gas emissions footprint.
