ReGround upcycles spent coffee grounds – one of the world’s most abundant waste streams, generated from 2.25 billion cups of coffee a day — into a premium cosmetic active.
Using a proprietary extraction cascade, the company recovers a standardized diterpene fraction (cafestol and kahweol, with phytosterols and tocopherols) that targets inflammaging, the low-grade inflammation that drives skin aging. U
nlike botanical actives bound to a crop and a season, or synthetic actives derived from petrochemicals, ReGround carries no feedstock burden: the active sits already concentrated in waste that would otherwise be discarded.
This waste-derived sourcing is both the environmental advantage and the commercial moat, enabling industrial-scale supply at ~97% gross margins.
The company sells the recovered active to cosmetics formulators, transforming a discarded by-product into a high-performance circular ingredient

Okimata is reinventing a $194B industry that is both energy-hungry and emissions-intensive. Ceramic production has barely changed in millennia: clay in, kilns blazing 24/7 at ~1,250°C, and huge CO₂ emissions. Producing ceramic sanitary ware consumes ~10× more energy and emits ~3× more CO₂ per kg than cement.

Okimata’s proprietary process cuts production cost by ~35–40% versus ceramic and porcelain, CAPEX by ~60%, FTE by ~75%, land by 80–90%, CO₂ emissions by ~75–80%, and energy use by ~65–70%.

We deliver ceramic-like performance without the kiln. Our ultra-hard coating cures at near-ambient temperatures yet achieves required hardness, durability, and chemical resistance, eliminating high-temperature firing and emissions.

Low-temperature curing lets us mold the structural body from recycled plastics. Instead of mining, hauling, and firing clay, we up-cycle plastic waste as the substrate and apply our coating as the functional surface. The result: ceramic-like products made from recycled feedstock, fully recyclable at end-of-life, and manufactured with a dramatically smaller footprint and at lower costs.

Bottom line: Okimata is the first truly eco-friendly, lower-cost alternative to traditional ceramics, bringing ceramic-like performance, circular materials, and modern manufacturing to a highly polluting industry long overdue for change.
