Chiral Pioneers Electron Spin Alignment for Next-Gen Power and Computing

About Us

Random electron spin causes energy losses in conductors, electrical interfaces, and chemical reactions across almost all electronic and electrochemical systems. Chiral developed a unique, passive, nanometric layer that aligns electron spin, helping control spin effects and reduce resistivity—unlocking efficiency, capacity, and cost advantages without added power or complexity.
Chiral’s spin-aligning nanolayers can be integrated into existing technologies and manufacturing processes, delivering high impact at low cost. The company is scaling its versatile layer across multiple applications, including electrolyzers (demonstrating ~30%+ capacity/efficiency gains), semiconductors and integrated electronics (showing ~10% conductivity improvement / ~10% resistivity reduction), solid-state GPU cooling, batteries, fuel cells, PV, quantum interconnects, and more—boosting performance, reducing system footprints, and lowering costs for global OEMs

Relevant Challenges

Energy Production

Chiral focuses on energy efficiency because many of today’s biggest cost and carbon drivers come from the same root problem: electrical and electrochemical losses that waste energy as heat and reduce system performance. Whether in AI/HPC chips, cooling, or hydrogen production, a meaningful fraction of input energy is lost due to resistance, scattering, and inefficient charge transfer. Chiral addresses this at the electron level using spin alignment (CISS effect), reducing losses without adding power, moving parts, or complexity. Improving efficiency lowers operating energy, reduces cooling and infrastructure burden, and can also reduce material “overbuild” (e.g., extra copper or oversized thermal hardware), delivering both economic and climate benefits at scale

Energy Transmission and Distribution

Energy Efficient Computation

Chiral focuses on energy-efficient computation because modern computing- especially AI and high-performance workloads- is increasingly limited by how much electrical power can be delivered and removed as heat, not by the number of transistors alone. A significant share of energy is lost inside chips and packages through resistive heating and voltage drop in the power delivery network and interconnects, which forces higher operating voltages, larger guardbands, and more cooling. Chiral addresses this root inefficiency at the electron level using spin alignment (CISS effect), reducing resistive losses without adding active power or complexity. Lower losses mean less wasted heat, improved performance-per-watt, and better thermal and reliability margins- enabling higher compute density and more capability within the same power and cooling envelope
