Kokomodo
Kokomodo creates climate-resilient cacao through cellular agriculture

About Us
Kokomodo is reimagining cacao for a climate-resilient future. Using cellular agriculture, we grow real cacao- without trees, deforestation, or dependence on fragile supply chains. Our approach enables consistent, year-round production of high-quality cacao with dramatically reduced environmental impact.
Today, cacao is grown almost entirely in two countries, vulnerable to climate shocks, child labor, and unsustainable farming practices. It takes six years to grow and is increasingly threatened by rising temperatures and disease. We believe there’s a better way.
At Kokomodo, we start by isolating cacao cells from premium varieties and cultivating them in optimized lab environments. This allows us to produce cacao biomass in just days, rich in bioactive compounds.
The result is a scalable, clean-label ingredient that meets the growing demand for cacao. Kokomodo cacao is designed for applications in functional foods, supplements, beverages, and beyond- empowering brands to deliver nutritional impact without environmental compromise.
Relevant Challenges
Process
Advanced cellular agriculture platform, which cultivates cacao cells in controlled environments, eliminating the need for traditional farming. By isolating and growing cacao biomass rich in functional bioactive compounds, the company offers a clean-label, scalable ingredient that can be used in a wide range of food and beverage applications.
Reduce Land Footprint
The process not only ensures year-round, climate-resilient production but also avoids deforestation, long growth cycles, and labor-intensive supply chains. Kokomodo’s approach demonstrates how biomass-based cellular systems can deliver sustainable, functional ingredients for future food systems.
